Scatacook District Awards Challenge 2016

  • Which Pack/Troop/Crew/Post/Team will nominate the most leaders for awards this year, keeping in mind that a Scouter is Trustworthy. In addition to Scouter’s Key, Scouters Training Award, Cub Scout Den Leader Award, and Adult Religious Award, here are a few District Awards we would love to see lots of applications for this year.,

District Awards cannot be self nominated! - It is not appropriate to nominate a Scouter who has already received these awards, list of past recipients is on council website at CTYankee.org.

District Award of Merit - http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/33720.pdf

The District Award of Merit is a council award presented by districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is a national award presented by councils. The award is available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level. The District Award of Merit is the top council award presented by districts to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level, must be nominated for the award by another Scouter, and vetted by the District Key 3. Our District is only allowed to appoint 3 of these per year. Much like membership in the Masters, any attempt at self nomination will disqualify a candidate.

Spark Plug - Nomination Form

Given at the Scatacook District Dinner upon nomination by a unit, to a Scout Leader who has been the “Spark” for their unit throughout the year. Please ensure that the awardee is at the dinner, awardees must be at the dinner to receive the award.

Key 3 Award

Given by the Scatacook District Key 3, this highly coveted and very secretive award is often given to those who least expect it but have certainly earned it.

NEW! Unit Community Service Award - Unit Level Award

New this year, this award is for the unit who performs and then logs the most community service hours. There will be 2 awards, one based on overall hours and one based on the highest average of community service hours amongst registered Troop/Pack/Crew/Team/Post members.
